I have the honor to refer to your note of the 25th
ultimo requesting, in cases where the criminal antecedents
of Chinese deportees may come under the observation of the
immigration authorities, that the evidence pointing to such or
criminal recordabe communicated to the HongKong Government
through the channel of His Majesty's Consul General in San
Francisco, California, or, in case of deportation from
another port, to the nearest British consular officer.
The Department is now in receipt of a communication
from the Secretary of Commerce and Labor saying that his
Department will be pleased to comply with this request.
A copy of the Secretary's letter is enclosed.
